Ready to be hoisted into position on the roof of Cobalt Square in Birmingham are outdoor units to serve Mitsubishi Electric City Multi air-conditioning systems on seven floors of this 17-storey building.
As part of the refurbishment of one of Birmingham’s iconic office buildings, the 17-storey Cobalt Square (as it is now known) has Mitsubishi Electric City Multi air-condition installed in seven 410 m2 open-plan office suites. The equipment was installed by Coolair Equipment, a preferred supplier of Mitsubishi equipment, so it comes with a 5-year guarantee. Coolair installed 14 City Multi PUHY condensing units on the roof of the building in two phases. Both required road closures, so the work was carried out on Sundays to minimise disruption. Each of the seven air-conditioned floors is served by a combination of P300 and P250 outdoor units using R410A. Up to 35 different indoor units can be connected using Mitsubishi’s 2-pipe system with a total system pipe length of 300 m. Prestigious occupants of the building include Birmingham City Council and The Insolvency Agency. Neil Gibbard of Coolair explains, ‘As a preferred supplier of Mitsubishi equipment, we can offer our customers extended warranties as an added benefit because we adhere to the high standards of installation which will ensure that the equipment provides energy-efficient heating and cooling for the building’s occupants for years to come.’
