Heatrae Sadia passes half-million mark for sales of unvented hot-water cylinders

Towards the next half million — the recent launch of the Megatech solar cylinder by Heatrae Sadia will build on the half-million-plus sales achieved by the Megaflow HE unvented hot-water storage cylinder since production started in 2004.
Recent rapid growth in the market for unvented water heating has seen sales of Heatrae Sadia’s Megaflo cylinders pass the half-million mark since the company started making them in 1994. Consumer demand for powerful showers and fast-filling baths is said to be driving the market. In 2006, unvented sales grew by 13.5%, and 40% of cylinders bought are now mains pressure. Megaflow HE cylinders are said to be unique in this market by virtue of an internal air gap and floating baffle to cope with water expanding as it is heated — giving the product a neat and self-contained design, compared with most other unvented cylinders on the market requiring an external expansion vessel. Continuing improvements in the materials used and manufacturing processes enable Heatrae Sadia to offer a 25-year transferable guarantee on Megaflow HE, which covers on-site parts and labour. The latest development is a solar thermal product, Megatech. It is designed to be used with solar panels and evacuated-tube systems.
