CHP cleans up at Birmingham hospital

A hospital in Birmingham is enjoying the cost-saving and environmental benefits of a high-efficiency CHP system installed in a new energy centre to replacement elderly coal-fired boilers. Carbon emissions will be reduced significantly. The new plant was installed by Ener-G Combined Power at the Heart Of England NHS Foundation Trust’s hospital. A 1.35 km gas service and outlet pipeline was laid to supply the new plant. The contract also involved highway works and on-site supplies. The route crossed the hospital’s main car park.
