Self-testing emergency lighting reduces whole-life costs

The self-testing capabilities of P4’s Fastelink emergency-lighting system will reduce whole-life costs at the Imperial Wharf development in Fulham compared with a manual switch operated system.
reduces whole-life costs Haden Young has installed P4’s Fastelink fully automatic computer-addressable self-testing emergency-lighting system at the flagship Imperial Wharf development overlooking the River Thames in Fulham. The system is primarily used in the student accommodation block provided by Unite, the UK’s largest provider of high-quality accommodation to students. On the basis of trouble-free services on similar sites at 15 cities across the UK, Unite specified the Fastelink system for this project. However, Haden Young’s project manager John O’Regan needed to be satisfied that the system would conform with BS 5266 and meet his criteria for whole-life cost and overall reliability. Haden reviewed the system with Robert Warner, who had designed the original scheme for Unite. They reviewed the merits of the computer-addressable self-testing system against manual switch-operated systems. This discussion justified the initial cost outlay when set against the cost of meeting subsequent responsibilities for testing and maintenance. Indeed, the payback period was quite short, and there is no need for regular manual inspections in rooms or corridors. info@p4fastel.co.uk
