IKEA signs up with GSH to reduce energy costs

reduce energy costs Furniture retailer IKEA is set to benefit from guaranteed 5% energy-cost savings following an Energyplus agreement with contract-energy-management company George S. Hall. GSH is responsible for IKEA’s northern and southern regions, including its newest store at Cardiff. The initial introduction of Energyplus takes advantage of GSH’s central-plant maintenance role and is designed to reduce energy consumption through engineering best practice. A key part of the scheme is a disciplined approach to energy management through a combination of energy auditing, ongoing metering and analysis and investment in energy-saving devices.

More refrigerant bans possible, says government

The government could tighten up the rules that restrict the use of global warming refrigerant gases including speeding up phase-out programmes and introducing new bans, according to a spokesman from the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA).
