Beyond the combi boiler

Faced with designing a heating and hot-water system for a new 5-bedroom detached house with three en-suite bathrooms in Poole, Bournemouth installer Tony Comaskey contacted Glow-worm’s design service. Dedicated staff work from plans to prepare a set of CAD drawings, a schedule of works and materials to complete an installation. The project certainly required more than a combi boiler. The project requirements were met by ganging two Glow-worm boilers — a 38 kW heating-only plus a 24 kW system boiler — along with a 300 litre Glow-worm hot-water cylinder. This size of cylinder delivers hot water virtually on demand. Tony Comaskey says, ‘The system design was extremely useful and time saving, but, of course, you still have to make changes and adaptations on site. Detailed drawings and plans are great, but they are not the same as dealing with the little hiccups that you get on site.’
