Emergency lighting in Paradise

paradise
The 42 acre Paradise Project in Liverpool is believed to have the largest emergency-lighting installation in Europe with centralised monitoring and testing.
What is believed to be one of the largest emergency-lighting systems in Europe with centralised monitoring and testing includes a wide range of equipment supplied by Ventilux. The company supplied emergency luminaires, central-battery supplies and a centralised system for testing and monitoring for the Paradise Project in Liverpool This massive development by Grosvenor comprises 30 major buildings, including banks, department stores, hotels and residential accommodation, in 42 acres between Liverpool City Centre and the Albert Dock. Ventilux is supplying landlord’s emergency lighting for most of the site, including self-contained luminaires and central-battery systems. Most fittings are fed by central-battery supplies ranging from 8 to 40 kVA. All emergency luminaires incorporate a test and monitoring facility linked to the central control room. A key feature of the emergency-lighting installation is the Ventilux Netcom 5xp automatic test and monitoring system. It automatically carries out the daily checks and monthly, 6-monthly and annual tests required for emergency lighting. The results are logged, and operators are alerted to any luminaires needing attention. The system can monitor up to 25 300 luminaires. A monitoring device in each luminaire monitors the lamp, battery and inverter and automatically conducts the specified tests. Many of the emergency luminaires are Concord Marlin units adapted and retested by Ventilux for use with the Netcom 5 xp system. The project also includes a number of Ventilux’s own luminaires. Ventilux worked closely with building-services engineers WSP Group to produce appropriate solutions for the special needs of the project.
