Contributing to the energy-efficient transformation of The Bury retirement home in Codicote, Hertfordshire, is the installation of Broag gas 210 Eco MkII floor-standing condensing boilers.
As part of the complete transformation of The Bury retirement home at Codicote in Hertfordshire, Broag 210 gas-fire boilers have been installed to provide space heating and hot water. The Bury comprises a 16th-century manor house with 1980s annex and is owned an run by the Johnnie Johnson Housing Association. Johnnie Johnson was the highest-scoring RAF fighter pilot to survive the Second World War and shot down 38 enemy aircraft in the skies over Western Europe between June 1941 and September 1944. Flueing problems had to be overcome during the installation work. The flue for one boiler should ideally have run up the front of the building where the satellite dish is positioned, but JJHA could not get consent from the council. The flues were instead run through the inside of the building and up the opposite wall. These boilers can achieve a gross efficiency of 99%, and have contributed to huge savings in fuel consumption resulting from the overall project. The boilers were installed by Bancroft Heating.
