KoolDuct pre-insulated ducting has been installed throughout the refurbishment of the student-union building at Brunel University.
As part of the £10 million refurbishment of the student-union building at Brunel University, Kingspan’s pre-insulated ducting system was installed to distribute air throughout the building, including the student nightclub Academy. Contractor Specialist Ductwork Systems fabricated and installed the KoolDuct, and is among the top-three installers of this product. Kevin Sewell, a director of the company, says, ‘We were bang on time for the job, without any delays. KoolDuct is absolutely fantastic to handle. It’s lightweight, easy to work with and easy to install.’ Among benefits compared with sheet-metal ducting is single-fix installation, eliminating the need for second-fix lagging to yield savings in time and cost. KoolDuct is also only about 15% of the weight of equivalent galvanised steel and can be installed flush to the ceiling, typically saving 150 to 200 mm.
