Lee Jackson and Glen Raven of Lee Jackson Air Conditioning prepare to set off on the 2007 Europe
National air-conditioning distributor Oceanair UK teamed up with Sanyo Air Conditioner to sponsor Lee Jackson and Glen Raven of Lee Jackson Air Conditioning in the 2007 Cannonball Run Europe rally. They drove their Porsche turbo cabriolet through 11 European countries, starting from Sandown Race Course in Surrey. Stops included Lake Garda in Italy, Slovakia, Budapest, Berlin and Antwerp — to finish in the UK in 18th position in a 60-strong field. The Cannonball events were inspired by die-hard adventurer Erwin G. ‘Cannonball’ Baker, who set 143 American cross-country distance records, including a 531/2 hour coast-to-coast solo drive averaging over 50 mph in 1933. The European Cannonball Run was created in 2002. Lee Jackson and Glen Raven summarise the experience: ‘The Cannonball race is something that we have wanted to take part in for the past few years; it was an incredible experience, and we will definitely be entering next year.’
