The air-handling requirements of Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar are met by a £1.6 million for McQuay Easdale air-handling units
Not only did the McQuay Easdale AHUs for the new Weill Cornell Medical College near Dohar in Qatar have to be designed to fit the technical specification of the building, but they also had to meet the constraints of standard shipping containers. This resulted in the 23 Easdale systems being shipped in 112 containers, each 40 ft long and represented a £1.6 million order for design, supply and commissioning. Each air-handling system comprised two AHUs, one for supply and one for extract. They are arranged in a horseshoe shape, with an inlet filter plenum connecting them. A central corridor between the units provides access. When installed, the plan size of the systems ranged from 5 x 5 m to 12 x 10 m, with a typical air volume of 13.5 m3/s. Features include an inertial separator for filtering the dust-laden fresh-air supply, 75 mm double-skinned panels, plenum plug fans, electric heating coils, run-around coils for heat recovery, sound attenuation for supply and extract, complete internal piping and prewired controls panel.
