Outstanding efficiency for Hoval Belaria heat pumps

Independent testing of Hoval’s range of Belaria air-to-water heat pumps has shown a COP of 3.8, said to be the highest ever measured for air-to-water heat pumps at the Buchs Interstate Technical University NTB. The modular Belaria range delivers water at up to 55°C. Seven models have heating capacities from 8.6 to 33.2 kW. They can extract heat from ambient temperatures as low as -15°C. A 6 kW electric heater and heating pump is incorporated in units up to 15.4 kW. High efficiencies are achieved through attention to detail that includes high levels of thermal insulation to a suction gas heat exchanger to ensure high levels of heat recovery. A start-up current limiter reduces the current on start up. These heat pumps are fitted with the Hoval TopTronic heat-regulation system, which maintains optimum indoor temperatures while maintaining very low noise levels. It also facilitates integration with other heat sources such as solar or biomass.
