Fan convectors are served by ground-source heat pump

Two Ecovector heating units from Smith’s Environmental Products installed in the showroom of the Cotswold Efficient Energy Centre are served by a ground-source heat pump. The building is a retrofit, and underfloor heating could not be used. The centre has an array of solar systems and ground- and air-source heat pumps. It also supplies gas and oil heating systems, condensing boilers and unvented water systems. The Ecovectors were installed by AJ Buchan Ltd. The flat-fronted Ecovector is designed along the lines of a low-surface-temperature radiator and operated by an almost quiet twin-speed fan. Its heat exchanger uses just 5% of the water required for a radiator of equivalent output. It draws in air from above and distributed heat from the floor upwards, said to be a first for any fan convector.
