Fan Systems Group invests to boost manufacturing capability

Vastly improved production capability for Fan Systems Group — Martin Booth.
Fan Systems Group has invested over £500 000 in state-of-the-art Trumpf laser cutting machinery and a Cincinnati CNC machining centre to treble production of its industrial fans, reduce production time by two thirds and enable the company to design, make and supply a wider range of bespoke fans and associated equipment. FSG is the manufacturing arm of the Witt UK group and is based on two sites near Halifax. Last year the company undertook a comprehensive manufacturing advisory service review, which helped identify areas where production could be streamlined. Martin Booth, managing director of Witt UK Group, says, ‘The review helped FSG isolate where and how they could improve their performance. FSG delivery times have also been a concern to me due to the product mix, 300 fan types, varying lead times and the reliance of third-party suppliers to relieve process bottlenecks. With this investment, the UK Group manufacturing bottlenecks have been reduced, and we are no longer reliant on sub-contractors.’ FSG is a major player in the industry, offering companies in the UK bespoke design, manufacture, test and service on all its range of fans.
