Vaillant’s boiler-management system takes control on the Isle of Wight

Following a successful trial of Vaillant’s VRC 630 boiler management system in the Knights Court sheltered-Housing scheme in Ventnor, South Wight Housing Association is considering installing further systems and communal heating in other sheltered-housing schemes. Knights Court originally had nine old floor-standing boilers across several storeys. Rob Doel of South Wight Housing Association, explains, ‘We asked Vaillant if they could design a system using their commercial boiler range that would be much more energy efficient, easy to control, have a back-up system and comprehensive management controls. I am pleased to say that’s exactly what they did. The boilers are performing well, and the controls are so easy to operate.’ Vaillant provided six ecoMAX 65 wall-hung boilers, with two boilers per plant room. Three boilers provide additional back-up if the weather is extremely cold or one of the main boilers fails — which has not happened yet. Each plant room has a VRC 630 boiler-management system, and the building was one of the first in the UK to use this system. Features include optimum start and stop, weather compensation and cascade control of the boilers. It has dramatically improved comfort levels.
