Non-invasive monitoring of electricity consumption

Moeller
Moeller Electric’s Efergy wireless energy monitors clearly shows the amount of electricity being used at any time. Such an understanding of where electricity is being used is said to be the surest way to reduce carbon emissions. The monitor also shows the total amount of money being spent on electricity, the difference made by switching off an appliance and how much money could be saved by reducing consumption. It can also be used to estimate CO2 emissions and to display historical and average data over days, weeks and months. There are three components. A sensor is clipped around the supply cable close to the consumer unit. There is also a transmitter and portable display with large LCD screen. Tests have shown that understanding where electricity is being used enables most users to achieve sustained energy savings of 5 to 20%.
