‘The Salon’ tests Fujitsu’s air-conditioning capability

The Salon
Fujitsu air-conditioning equipment (a ceiling cassette is visible) has been installed to cool the set of Channel 4’s ‘The Salon’.
Ease of installation and relocation, as well as ability to cope with high heat loads, were factors leading to the selection of Fujitsu air conditioners for the set of Channel 4’s programme ‘The Salon’. Constant changes to the set design have required a number of the 12 units to be moved several times. Airway Air Conditioning installed the units, supplied by FM Air Conditioning, throughout the set for this hair and beauty salon. There are three ASY24 wall units, six AUY36 and AUY25 ceiling cassettes and an ARY36 ducted unit. The low sound output of these units, even with fans running at their highest speeds, is important on a television set. Julian Young, design and sales manager with Airway, says, ‘The high heat levels experienced on a television set are truly exceptional. And it isn’t just the lights, the camera equipment also generates surprisingly high heat loads. We specified Fujitsu units because they are easy to install, which has proven to be an added bonus as two of the ceiling cassettes have been moved on three occasions due to lighting and feature changes.’ The AUY25 cassette delivers 7.1 kW of cooling and the AUY36 10.5 kW. All units are operated with a mix of remote hand-held and wired controllers.
