Heat-pump VRF is specified for Kensington medical facility

Heat Pumps
Both heating and cooling are provided for a prestigious medical facility in London by an MHI heat-pump VRF system.

A prestigious new medical facility in Kensington has its heating and cooling requirements met by a 2-pipe KX4 VRF system from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. The system was specified by Flatt Consulting and is driven by a heat pump using R410A and with a cooling capacity of 80 kW.

There are 23 ducted horizontal indoor units in the consulting and treatment rooms and communal areas. Two wall-mounted units serve the staff catering area and the administration office. A separate split unit has been installed in the IT/comms room housing the server.

Contributing to the efficiency of the outdoor unit is a fan-blade design adapted from Mitsubishi’s aerospace division. Serrated edges deliver more air for less power. Electronic expansion valves ensure the most efficient use of refrigerant. KX4 equipment is included in the Energy Technology List, so it qualifies for Enhanced Capital Allowances.
