Car company takes prevention approach to fire protection

The Halewood site of Jaguar Land Rover is one of two to use Wagner UK’s OxyReduct system to prevent fire in IT suites.

Jaguar Land Rover is preventing the possibility of a fire in its IT suites at its Halewood and Browns Lane site. These IT facilities are fundamental to the company’s operation, so downtime due to fire or false alarms is to be avoided.

Wagner UK’s OxyReduct system creates an environment in which fires cannot start by continuously adding nitrogen to the air in a closed area to reduce the oxygen concentration to a level where most combustibles do not inflame, so an open fire is impossible. Importantly, people can work in the area.

Wagner’s Titanus Top-Sense air-sampling smoke-detection system provides secondary backup fire protection in the case of pyrolysis. The OxyReduct system can be installed without any additional building work — unlike a carbon-dioxide extinguishing system.

Over 200 major organisations throughout Europe have installed OxyReduct systems, and they have proved themselves to be cost effective compared to traditional protection systems for high-value storage and mission-critical applications.
