Solar housing project wins Happold Brilliant Award
A team of lecturers from Cambridge University’s engineering department has won the 2008 Happold Brilliant Award for excellence in the teaching of building physics in the context of a low-carbon economy.
The wining team had collaborated closely with the department of architecture, with over a hundred students involved in the design of a solar-powered house for entering into the European Solar Decathlon.
The award was instituted in 1996 and is funded by the Happold Trust. Allan McRobie and Randall Thomas collected the award, which consists of a crystal column and a cheque for £1000, on behalf of the university’s engineering department. The money will be used to support and reward student work and interest in the subject.
