Underfloor heating and screed completed in just four days

Rehau underfloor heating
The final stage of the 4-day installation of 700 m2 of Rehau underfloor heating at The Hub in Azec West, Bristol, is the laying of a flowing screed.

The complete underfloor heating system for the 700 m2 grand atrium of The Hub in Aztec West, Bristol, was installed in just four days. HS Tech & Partners, an authorised partner for Rehau, installed and pressure tested the system using Rehau’s universal Pe-Xa pipework in three days and then used a flowing screed to screed the area the following day.

The project has a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating and incorporates energy-efficient solutions such as cooling using active chilled beams, rainwater recycling and a ground-source heat pump. These features and Rehau underfloor heating were specified by M&E consultant Hulley & Kirkwood.

Jason Didcott, managing director of HS Tech & Partners, says, ‘By providing both underfloor heating and screeding in one package, we offer contractors valuable time savings and are also making procurement easier by giving them just one supplier to deal with. The flowing screed is not only much faster to install, but it also works more efficiently as part of the whole heated-floor package.’
