Thermal-imaging camera blends visual and thermal images
A thermal-imaging camera that takes the guesswork out of temperature measurement by fusing visual and thermal images onto the same screen has been developed by Irisys. The IRI 2010 costs about £2000 and can be used to identify problems such as poor building insulation and badly fitting windows and doors. It can also be used to detect problems with wiring, fuses, resistors and overheating mechanical equipment, including worn bearings.
Two temperature-measurement points are provided to enable the user to accurately and easily pinpoint hot or cold spots. The strengths of the two images can be blended for ease of interpretation of data and rapid identification of potential faults.
Temperatures from -10 to 350°C can be measured.
High and low parameters can be preset to automatically raise audio and visual alarms for equipment operating outside defined temperatures, user-defined thresholds or other abnormal conditions.
