Shopping centre exploits benefits of plastic pipework

Durapipe
Over 7 km of plastic pipework from Durapipe has been used to service the Westfield London shopping centre.

Vast amounts of prefabricated Friatherm pipework from Durapipe have been use in the new Westfield London shopping centre.

Over 7 km of Friatherm and 3000 fittings in sizes from 16 to 160 mm are used to transport hot and cold water to each of the 280 retail stores and 47 bars and restaurants throughout this shopping and leisure complex.

Pipework was prefabricated, with 6 m frames including Friatherm pipework and ductwork for cold water. These modules were simply fitted together on site — significantly reducing labour time and cost.

The Friatherm plastic pipework system is completely limescale free and corrosion resistant, giving a 50-year working life. Installation on site does not require a power source or hot works.
