Daikin enhances performance of small split air conditioners

Daikin has introduced a range of heat-pump and cooling-only wall-mounted split pairs of air-conditioning units using R410A. Three sizes of unit provide cooling capacities from 2 to 3.4 kW and heating from 2.7 to 4 kW. COPs are a minimum of 3.25 for cooling and a maximum of 4.12 for heating. Five of the six models meet Category A requirements of the EU Energy Labelling Scheme. These units are compatible with the D series Multi outdoor units. The indoor units have a stylish flat design and can be all white or white and silver. Technical refinements include a swing compressor with a high-torque DC reluctance motor. Daikin has also for the first time used a DC fan motor for the first time in its small split range, increasing efficiency over standard AC types across the motor speed range by 20 to 40%. Modifications to the heat exchanger of the indoor units have increased heat transfer by around 23%. The titanium apatite photo-catalytic air-purifying filter absorbs microscopic particles, decomposes odours and deactivates bacteria and viruses. Titanium apatite is said to be 2.5 times more absorbent than the titanium oxide widely used in air purifiers. It deactivates and decomoses more than 99.9% of influenza and staphylococcus aurea toxins coming into contact with it.
