Geoclima develops new chiller range based on the Turbocor compressor

Geoclima’s air-cooled Turbomiser II range of air-cooled chillers can achieve EERs of 10 and above, with the help of an approach to free cooling that does not require additional free-cooling circuits and associated use of glycol. They are available in the UK from Klima-Therm and Cool-Therm.

Energy consumption is reduced by 30 to 50%, and the payback on the extra capital costs can be less than a year.

These chillers use 30% less refrigerant than comparable conventional chillers and are available with cooling capacities from 250 to 1500 kW.

Among the design features are micro-channel aluminium condensers, which reduce refrigerant charge and increase heat transfer.

Flooded evaporators optimise energy transfer between refrigerant and water.

The output of the Turbocor compressors can be precisely matched to load.

A liquid-pressure amplification system (LPA) significantly increases thermodynamic efficiency across the operating range.

The LPA can be used at lower ambient temperatures to circulate refrigerant around the system while the compressor(s) are off to deliver free cooling.
