Major projects move ahead in Southampton

Development Securities has received planning permission for a 155-bed hotel at the West Quay site in Southampton’s town centre. The hotel has been pre-let to Premier Inn, and construction is likely to start early in 2010.

This property-development and investment company has also received planning permission for a 5500 m2 office building, complementing the 14 000 m2 prime headquarters building completed for Carnival UK at the end of last year. The cruise operator took occupancy towards the end of July 2009.
