EMCOR invests in innovation academy

EMCOR Group (UK) has opened its innovation academy in partnership with the City of Wolverhampton College. It provides research facilities dedicated to developing the latest services and techniques for customers as well as training EMCOR employees, apprentices and college students.
The main focus of the academy, which will serve the entire UK, will be to develop innovative and sustainable electrical, mechanical and public-health construction techniques and trial new products and tools. It will also enable demonstration projects to be constructed and tested in an off-site environment.
It will also provide a training suite and become EMCOR’s main centre for training and work-based learning for apprentices and employees. Students at the college will be offered work placements and site visits to EMCOR projects.
John Matthews, managing director, says, ‘We believe now is a key time to invest in the future in order to enhance our skills capability in our industry, as well as to ensure the long-term value which our customers rely upon EMCOR.’
