SES completes Hurlingham club project

SES electrical apprentices Paul Hanna and Darren McMahon take time out on the completion by SES of its £3 million building-services contract at The Hurlingham Club in London to learn the sport of croquet. The £14 million redevelopment of the private members’ sport and leisure club has seen the existing East Wing, which was partially destroyed in the Second World War, entirely reconstructed to provide 4600 m2 of new function and entertainment facilities. The project involved the construction of new ballrooms, dining areas, a kitchen and servery for up to 800 members and their guests, together with a theatre, sports pavilion and administrative offices. Principal contractor was the Gleeson Group’s southern construction division.

The Building Controls Industry Association (BCIA) has welcomed the government’s confirmation that privately rented non-domestic buildings over 1,000 square metres in England and Wales will be expected to achieve a minimum EPC B rating by 2031, describing the move as an important step forward in improving the energy performance of the UK’s commercial building stock.
