Flexible underground piping system is pre-insulated

Watts Industries, underground pipework

The Microflex pre-insulated and flexible piping system from Watts Industries can be used to connect heating and cooling installations between buildings served by central plant. The system comprises one, two or four PE-Xa water pipes surrounded by thermal insulation and encased in a flexible HDPE outer jacket ready to be installed in trenches. Customised lengths of up to 100 m can be joined and connected to indoor plumbing. There are several systems in the range, with core pipe diameters from 25 to 100 mm.

Uno and Duo are single and double pipes for central-heating water at up to 95°C and operating pressures up to 6 bar. Sanitary versions can be used for potable hot water up to 10 bar.

Quadro has flow and return heating pipes and two sanitary pipes for hot water and a circulation loop.

Uno and Duo Cool piped are suitable for cold potable water, cooling water and wastewater applications at a maximum pressure of 16 bar, a minimum temperature of -10°C and a maximum temperature of 25°C. These pipes are available with a self-regulating heating cable.

Microflex systems are expected to have a maintenance-free life of over a hundred years.
