Commtech’s expertise on trial in Manchester

Court
This new magistrates’ court on the Spinningfields development in Manchester is one of three major buildings commissioned by Commtech.
Three of the main buildings in Manchester’s huge Spinningfields development have had their mechanical and electrical services commissioned by Commtech. Northern-region director Nigel Hersee says, ‘This development was a fast-track project, so keeping to the schedule was critical to the success of the undertaking. We were very proactive in our involvement and worked closely with other members of the construction team to complete the project on target.’ This development by Allied London, which worked in partnership with Manchester City Council, provides 375 000 m2 of commercial, retail, civic, residential and open space in the city-centre business district. Commtech was commissioning manager at No. 1 Springfield Square — eight storeys offering 17 000 m2 of mixed office and retail space and let to the Royal Bank of Scotland. Three people were on site at any one time. Commtech was also hands-on commissioning manager for a magistrates’ court and 1 Hardman Boulevard, a 10-storey development providing over 42 000 m2 of air-conditioned and retail space, also let to the Royal Bank of Scotland. Eight operatives were required at 1 Hardman Boulevard. For the court, Commtech carried out commissioning and managed the process, with a team of six people located permanently on site.
