Calorex helps protect historical records
rreplaceable historical documents, some dating back to Norman times, and which have survived more by luck than by judgment, are now being preserved with the help of two Calorex OTW15 dehumidifiers. The collection of parchments, records, maps and photographs are cared for by the archives department of Shropshire Council at its Shrewsbury headquarters. Environmental engineers Cool Services specified two wall-mounted dehumidifiers as a reliable and efficient method of preventing excessive humidity.
The archive receives 10 000 visits a year from the public, with hundreds of thousands more researching catalogued information via the Internet.
The approach to dehumidification is up to 80% cheaper to run than the traditional method of continuous heating with eight air changes an hour. In addition, recovered latent heat can be used to heat the room. OTW15 dehumidifiers can fit above a standard doorway and have tamper-proof controls
