Lend Lease wins supply-chain excellence award

Lend Lease has beaten off competition from Marks & Spencer, Sainsbury’s and Cadbury to win the Business in the Community (BiTC) National Excellence Award for its responsible sourcing and supply-chain management. The Anglo American Responsible supply Chain Award was presented to Nigel McKay, head of procurement for Bovis Lend Lease, by Marks & Spencer chairman Stuart Rose.

Nigel McKay said, ‘For a property business to beat recognised leaders in sustainable supply chain management like Marks & Spencer is a fantastic accolade and testament to our efforts in and commitment to sustainability. To win, we had to demonstrate real innovation and commitment in our supply-chain management over a sustained period of time. It highlights our proactive approach and dedication to embedding sustainability into our operations.’

The Lend Lease entry was based on two key elements: its supply-chain accreditation scheme (BuildingConfidence) and its work on gaining independent assurance on materials provenance and sustainability performance.
