Cable tray is miles ahead

The ease of forming and installing Cablofil cable tray has led to several kilometres being installed in schools in Wrexham and Exeter.

Cablofil cable tray is being used to carry mains, data-communications and low-voltage electrical wiring and cabling in refurbishment work covering nine schools in England and Wales. Several kilometres of tray in a range of standard sizes are being installed by Inviron in two high schools under a major reorganisation of secondary education in Wrexham. Three schools were closed and two new ones created by refurbishing and extensively modernising two former schools. Similar installations using Cablofil are being undertaken by SEC at schools in Exeter in a wide-ranging scheme by Devon County Council to upgrade teaching facilities by reverting from a first, middle and high school structure to a primary/secondary system. Six schools are being extensively refurbished to rebuilt. Benefits of Cablofil in the Exeter schools include it being light, easy to handle and capable of being formed to exact profiles on site using the minimum of hand tools, according to SEC’s project engineer Dave Biddle, who adds, ‘The availability of fast-fix fittings reduced overall installation time and costs significantly.’
