Shenton Group provides turnkey standby-power solution for Cancer Research

Shenton Group, standby power
Equipment to provide standby power and power quality has been supplied by Shenton Group for Cancer Research UK.

To protect its new communications rooms against power cuts and to maintain power quality, Cancer Research UK appointed Shenton Group to provide a complete turnkey solution — including a generator, UPS and all installation work and commissioning. The new facility supports the London Research Institute of Cancer Research, where innovative basic research is carried out to improve the understanding of cancer.

The installation includes a Scorpion Sterling 350 kVA generator and four 40 kVA UPSs in parallel to provide N+1 redundancy. Each UPS has a 10 min battery pack.

A specially designed exhaust system directs hot gases and fumes away from the building. The system automatically switches back to the mains when it has been restored.
