Turbomiser chillers use low-GWP HFO refrigerants

Klima-Therm, Cool-Therm, turbomiser, HFO

Turbomiser chillers using HFO refrigerants are now available from Klima-Therm and Cool-Therm. The first models use HFO-1234ze, which has a global-warming potential of six, compared with up to 2000 for some HFCs. Machines using HFO-1234yf, having a GWP of four, will be introduced shortly.

The companies says the using HFOs does not require a change in the design of the chiller or its components. Tests have shown a reduction in compressor capacity but an increase in efficiency of 10%.
