Retail Supply Group has energy savings wrapped up

Riegens, lighting, fluorescent
Replacing metal-halide lamps, which were always on, with Riegens fluorescent lighting has slashed running costs in this warehouse.

With finance provided by a Carbon Trust loan, the Retail Supply Group has significantly reduced lighting costs for a warehouse by replacing 400 W metal-halide lamps with Riegens HB-ECO fluorescent fittings with four 54 W lamps having a colour temperature of 4000 K. The new lighting scheme complies with CIBSE guidelines for warehouse lighting. The luminaires are controlled by occupancy and daylight sensors to minimise running costs.

The Retail Supply Group includes Glopac, a well established packaging supplier to major UK retailers, and Greenpac, a fast-growing pioneer in environmentally solutions across both packaging and textiles.

Following the installation, Liam Knowles, a director with Greenpac, commented, ‘We are delighted with the significant increase in light levels, coupled with immediate energy savings achieved through this replacement system. Riegens was recommended to us by a previous major retail client, and we are particularly impressed with the comprehensive savings the HB ECO system we have selected offers through its combination of movement and daylight sensors. By taking advantage of the Carbon Trust loan, we have identified significant projected energy savings providing an anticipated payback calculation of up to three years maximum.’

Carbon Trust loans are structured to enable projects to proceed with no capital outlay from the borrower.
