Work starts on Part L for 2013

CIBSE is leading the working group on changes to the non-domestic Part L of the Building Regulations planned for 2013. The group will advise the Department for Communities & Local Government and the Building Regulations Advisory Committee.

The group is chaired by Foroutan Parand, head of building physics with engineering and environmental consultants URS and comprises a cross-section of industry participants.

Its objectives are to look at the potential to further reduce carbon emissions from new and existing non-domestic buildings within the broader policy constraints set by the Government. It will make its recommendation to the advisory committee in July 2011.

A full public consultation is due to be launched by DCLG towards the end of 2011.
