Solar energy will help heat huge distribution centre

Solar energy will reduce the heating requirement of the 80 000 m2 retail distribution centre of Marks & Spencer at Castle Donington by 30%. The 4500 m2 SolarWall transpired solar collector being supplied by CA Group is said to be the largest in the world on a single building. SolarWall is widely recognised as one of the most efficient and cost-efficient renewable systems available and can generate up to 500 W/m2 of heat.
An earlier installation of SolarWall at the Jaguar Land Rover technical training academy in Leamington Spa is saving over 80 MWh of energy a year.
Andy Brewster, who leads the renewables design team at CA Group, said, ‘We are excited to be working on this very significant project. SolarWall truly is an excellent example of the very latest in renewable solutions which really deliver. This installation, for such a tried-and trusted brand which is committed to reducing its emissions, represents a real milestone — not just for the technology but also for CA Group.’
The project will also include CA Group’s Twin-Therm built-up roof and wall system.
