Standby power did what it said on the tin

A standby-power system supplied to Henry Boot Construction by Shenton Group was quickly called on to protect its headquarters during a 2-hour mains failure. The system supported a range of services, including e-mail and web server, computers, telecoms and lighting. The offices of Henry Boot Construction in south Yorkshire are vulnerable to power outages, which can result in disruption and inconvenience to customers and staff.
Shenton Group won the contract in competitive tender. The complete turnkey solution included 110 kVA generator, control panel, bulk fuel tank, ductwork, commissioning and a year’s service contract.
Ken Jenkinson, senior building-services engineer with Henry Boot Construction, says, ‘When the power outage occurred recently, the generator coped very well. Shenton Group did an excellent job.’
The generator has a number of special features to ensure it is always ready for use. They include a remote monitoring panel that enables the generator to be checked quickly and easily.
