MHS Boilers helps refurbish The Hub on Edinburgh’s Royal Mile

MHS Boilers, space heating
The Hub in Edinburgh has been newly refurbished and has space heating provided by three MHS boilers and a pressurisation unit

Efficient heating for a refurbished Grade A listed building on Edinburgh’s Royal Mile is provided by boilers and a pressurisation unit from MHS Boilers. The Hub, Edinburgh’s Festival Centre is now served by three ADI-NOx LT 150 kW boilers and a Pisces pressurisation unit.

The equipment was installed by Taylor & Fraser of Paisley, which has long experience working in historic buildings. M&E consulting engineers were Arup.

The ADI range of boilers has a small footprint and solves the problems associated with replacing atmospheric boilers in compact plantrooms. Boilers up to 110 kW output are only 350 mm wide, and 905 kW boilers occupy only 1.2 m2 of floor area. They can operate with a ∆t of 11 K.

There are three different versions in this range of boilers.

A standard type fabricated from carbon steel is intended for the replacement market.

A low-temperature stainless-steel version is tolerant to condensation and achieves higher efficiencies.

There is also a condensing version with a stainless-steel heat exchanger.

They have modulating radiant premix burners, and up to 12 boilers can be linked in cascade/modular installations.
