College named official Hub for renewables training

Central Sussex has been awarded Hub status by the National Skills Academy for Environmental Technologies for its high-quality provision and expertise in renewables training and assessments — as identified in an initiative aimed for training providers which can offer the best range of specialist skills for the installation and maintenance of technologies such as solar energy

The range of courses offered includes the installation and maintenance of solar thermal, solar PV, heat pumps and rainwater harvesting and recycling. All training is mapped against National Occupational Standards.

Dean Wynter, director of the faculty of construction, said, ‘The Government’s agenda to reduce carbon emissions means that green energies are a huge growth area, and the college is committed to ensuring that local building-services workers are competent in installing sustainable-energy devices and are meeting the legislative demands of the industry.’
