Shouksmiths completes student accommodation

Shouksmiths

Shouksmiths’ York division has completed two phases of installation work associated with student accommodation on Hull Road in York in readiness for the new academic year. The contract was worth £1 million, and the rooms will be rented out to undergraduate and post-graduate students. York divisional director David Shouksmith said, ‘The most challenging thing about this project was the extremely fast M&E installation required.’

There are five blocks, and Shouksmiths was responsible for the M&E package in two of them and the mechanical installation in the other three. There are 356 bedrooms across 150 unit clusters.

The develop has been completed to BREEAM Excellent standard and includes LED lighting, low-water-usage systems and a CHP system.
