REC solarPV panels bring electricity to hospital in Tanzania

Renewable Energy Corporation, SolarPV, renewable energy

An off-grid electrical supply for Lutindi Mental Hospital in Tanzania is provided by 90 solar panels donated by Renewable Energy Corporation and high-quality solar batteries. The maximum output from the panels is 21 kW. The project was initiated by a German school participating in the Buddy’s Program of the German Vodafone foundation.

Only 14% of the population in Tanzania has access to electricity, and only 2% of the rural population. The grid in Tanzania is not stable, and blackouts are a daily occurrence.

The project was co-ordinated by Peter Hoenen, engineer and project manager for stand-alone power systems with Wagner Solar Technology, with which REC has worked for over four years.
