A1 Flues supplies fan dilution system for Twickenham Stadium

A1 Flues, fan dilution system

This large fan-dilution flue measuring 2 x 1.2 m is part of the upgrading of the heating system at Twickenham Stadium, the largest dedicated rugby-union venue in the world. The stadium can seat 82 000 spectators and is being prepared for the 2015 Rugby World Cup.

The work includes upgrading the hot-water and heating systems and building an external boiler house to provide underground heating for the playing surface, main stand and corporate hospitality areas. A1 Flue Systems was appointed to make and install the rectangular stainless-steel fan-dilution system, with twin-motor fan and attenuators. It will serve three Hoval boilers with a combined rating of over 6000 kW. The total project value is £65 000.

TJ Moir (pictured), senior manager with A1 Flues, says, ‘We were chosen for our specialist knowledge and our past experience in providing heating systems for large sports stadiums. The flue-dilution system was manufactured to a very high standard and fitted exactly to our design specifications and deadlines by skilled professionals.’
