Kingspan Insulation publishes its sustainability credentials

The results of what is thought to be the first sustainability appraisal in the UK construction industry have been published by Kingspan Insulation.
Kingspan Insulation is meeting the sustainability requirements of legislation or best practice in most areas of its manufacturing operation — and moving beyond best practice in some. Those are the key findings of an appraisal of its site at Pembridge in Herefordshire carried out by Arup using its SPeAR tool (Sustainability Project Appraisal Routine). The main purpose of the appraisal was to highlight strengths and identify opportunities for improvement, informing future management decisions about the development of the company’s manufacturing. The baseline for the study was a comparison with legislation and current best practice. The results will be used by Kingspan Insulation as a basis to measure future performance. This is said to be the first study of its kind in the UK construction industry, and the detailed findings are published in full in a freely available report.
