Sustainability is a corporate responsibility — David Simmons of GSH
GSH claims to have become the first major player in the facilities-management sector to join forces with the Forum for the Future as a foundation corporate partner. Business partners of Forum for the Future are selected for their commitment to continuous improvement of their environmental and social performance, in line with the charity’s focus on accelerating the transition to a sustainable way of life. David Simons, chief financial office of GSH, says, ‘There is an increasing awareness at the highest level that companies must do business in a way that reflects their wider corporate responsibilities. We believe sustainable development is a dynamic process and are delighted to join leading blue-chips like Marks & Spencer, HBAS and Vodafone Group that share this approach.’ Martin Hunt, principal sustainability advisor at Forum for the Future, explains, ‘The operation and maintenance of our built environment has a significant impact upon the natural environment as well as our quality of life, and the FM sector can contribute greatly to sustainable development. We are looking forward to a positive and rewarding partnership with a recognised leader in this sector.
