Solar energy cuts costs at new Jewish centre

Meeting much of the DHW requirement of a new Jewish centre in London is met by solar collectors and cylinders from MHS Boilers.

Evacuated-tube solar collectors supply by MHS Boilers will meet much of the hot-water requirement of the new JW3 Jewish Community Centre London and adjoining residential accommodation. The 60 m2 of Auron collectors are supported by 14 twin-coil AquaPrimo cylinders, also supplied by MHS Boilers.

The main building houses a nursery, screening room, restaurant, bar and community space. The 10-storey residential block comprises 14 apartments, each with two bedrooms.

With a solar fraction of 50%, the apartment block will displace 5371 kg of CO2 and 8061 kWh of electricity. With a solar faction of 35%, the main community building will save 816 m3 of gas and 1725 kg of CO2.
