GDF Suez to boost Cofely brand with planned acquisition of Balfour Beatty Workplace

GDF Suez will boost its Cofely brand with the planned acquisition of the UK facilities-management business of Balfour Beatty —Balfour Beatty Workplace. With its existing Cofely business, GDF Suez currently employs 2200 people in the UK, providing services to 13 000 customer sites in the commercial, industrial and public sectors. It is also the UK’s largest provider of district energy.

Completion is expected in the fourth quarter of 2013, and the enlarged activities will have an annual turnover of around £800 million.

Balfour Beatty WorkPlace has major contracts with clients such as the Department for Work & Pensions, HM Revenue & Customs and North East Lincolnshire Council. Another contract is the Romec joint venture with the Royal Group.

Jerome Tolot, CEO of GDF Suez Energy Services, said, ‘This acquisition will consolidate the group’s significant position in energy and facilities services and will also create a strong position for GDF Suex in the UK.’
