Combining acoustic control and lighting, the Ecophon Soundlight Comfort range

Acoustic control and lighting are provided for Saint-Gobain’s head office in Binley, Coventry, by the company’s Ecophon Soundlight Comfort range. This major refurbishment is the first building in the UK to utilise this solution, which is the result of a partnership between Ecophon for the acoustic element and Philips for the LED lighting. The free-hanging acoustic panel has LED lighting built in.

The system is designed to create the sound absorption needed to reduce the total distance over which sound travels and ensure speech clarity over short distances.

The system was installed as a suspended ceiling by Nottingham Suspended Ceilings and comprises a combination of LED tiles and 40 mm acoustic tiles. to deliver a Class A acoustic performance. The LED units have an integral 15 mm absorber.

Will Jones, marketing manager with Ecophon, comments, ‘The system has received huge interest from architects and clients, and we are seeing increasing levels of specification on projects.’
