Robur absorption heat pumps available in UK

Robur gas-fired absorption heat pumps are now available in the UK through distributors Environmental Site Supplies (ESS). The range comprises systems to provide heating, cooling and domestic hot water. Heating solutions can be air-source, ground-source and water source; they can supply heating water at 65°C and DHW at 70°C.

Robur has been developing gas absorption heat pumps since 1991. The refrigeration cycle is based on an ammonia solution, and energy for activating the cycle is provided by a modulating gas-fired burner.

Kevin Pacey, managing director of ESS, says, ‘Compared with the best condensing boilers, GAHPs typically offer a 40% saving in both running costs and carbon emissions.’
